Self-esteem issues, bad relationships and financial insecurity, these are a few topics that author Nicole R. Matthews, event planner and lifestyle guru, discusses in her new book, "Permission!"

"Permission!" is a witty and entertaining memoir, meant to help women succeed in whatever path they choose to take in life. Matthews, a successful, humorous, self-deprecating 40-something that has had more fascinating life experiences than dates, is now sharing her book as a how-to guide for anyone affected by fear and troubled self-esteem.

"Permission came from a perfect intersection between professional success and personal development," said Matthews. "Leaning on others versus being an independent island, and asking others to help you, are two of the most important steps to designing the life you want to live."

As the designer of the highly successful, "Sex and the City," movie launch party events, and as a leader in the special events community, Matthews' success didn't come easy; having to overcome challenges and mend emotionally, financially and personally.

"'Permission' is a book to share with those who need a boost in their life," said Matthews. "This guide helps readers to become motivated and stop feeling lost, to help find their own anchor and to design the life they want to live, regardless of the circumstances they have faced."

Matthews believes once you stop competing with yourself and others, you will live a more intentional life. She champions becoming the architect of your own life by allowing yourself to live authentically, devoid of relationships, jobs or places that no longer serve your highest good.
