Lennie Nimblett Releases TOBAGO

Often times, people forget the past of their ancestors in the process of living in the future.

In "Tobago: The Union with Trinidad 1889 - 1899: Myth and Reality," author Lennie Nimblett provides readers with the truth behind the joining of two islands, the myths that surround the action and the effect that action had on its residents. From the end of slavery in the British colonies to the joining of two separate islands, Nimblett holds nothing back when casting a bright light on British policy in the West Indies during the nineteenth century and its effects on the people there.

"After years of living in and educating the people of Tobago and Trinidad, I found that many didn't know how the two colonies came to be united as one," Nimblett said. "I decided to write a true and honest history of this important union."

Nimblett was a contributor to the "Trinidad and Tobago Review" for over 20 years dealing with economic, financial and political affairs and spends most of his current time researching the history of his home.

"Teaching national history in schools is extremely important," Nimblett said. "Otherwise, our nations will slowly lose touch with who they are."

About the author

The author born in 1939 and educated in Trinidad and Scotland is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and a member of a political organization that publishes The Trinidad and Tobago Review in which he wrote on politics, economics and finance between 1983 and 1990. He has spoken on Radio on the Constitution of Trinidad and Tobago.
