Legal Thriller THE REFORM ARTISTS, is Released

Author Jon Reisfeld has a lot to say about what's wrong with America's family law courts. But for now, he says he's content to let his new novel, The Reform Artists, do most of the talking.

The Reform Artists, which is now on sale at Amazon.com, is a fast-paced, legal-suspense, spy thriller that tells the story of Martin Silkwood, a successful CPA and father of two, who gets blindsided by domestic violence charges in the run up to his divorce. Martin has only a week in which to prove he's been wrongly accused. If he fails, he could lose everything.

The Reform Artists portrays modern-day family law court as a morally bankrupt institution where injustice reigns supreme under the thin veneer of strict adherence to legal procedure. It is in that environment that the reform artists, a mysterious, underground network of social reformers, contacts Martin and offers its help.

The Reform Artists has received positive early reviews, including one favorably comparing it to the writing of acclaimed New York Times bestselling author, John Grisham. Reisfeld says The Reform Artists depicts events that have become all-too-common occurences in today's family law courts. "To be charged with something as heinous as domestic abuse is an appalling experience under any circumstances," he says. These individuals lose their civil liberties and due-process protections precisely when they need them the most."

Today, Reisfeld advocates for reforms that would help eliminate high-conflict divorce and its associated tactics. He says he hopes his novel, which is the first book in a planned series about the reform artists, will not only entertain readers, but educate them regarding much-needed court and societal reforms.

"The tactical use of domestic violence charges in cases ultimately heading for divorce court has reached epidemic proportions," Reisfeld explains. "Studies suggest that at least half of the estimated two-to-three million temporary protective orders issued, annually, in the U.S., may be based on false or frivolous charges. That's a lot of injustice."
