From his exposure to a number of prisons, author Lee M. Ozley's in depth experience with 1,250 male inmate prison and 45+ years of experience as a coach and advisor to organizations made it clear to him that the stereotypes that guide people involved in the development and administration of the prison systems may be deterrents to efforts to rehabilitate inmates.

95% What if...Dealing with Prison Inmates is the story of the trials, tribulations, and results of his journey at Allendale Correctional Institution (ACI) in Fairfax, S.C. In his conversation with more than 100 inmates, they described prison life as 'dehumanizing', 'belittling', 'degrading' and gives them the feeling that they had been "written off " as a human being of value.

The thrust of his effort is based upon the belief that 90% or more of inmates are good people who just made mistakes and screwed up their lives. The author believes that by treating inmates with respect and as a person of value, when their demonstrated behaviors merit, it will create a truly rehabilitative program that will change their lives and prepares them to be productive and good members of society.

95% What if...Dealing with Prison Inmates is an engagingly written and charmingly illustrated book that will take readers through the history of Lee M. Ozleys' efforts to improve the rehabilitative program of inmates in today's penal system and that there is a better and significantly better way to deal with prison inmates. He has written a clear description of the remarkable program at Allendale, which should be a model for every penal institution all over the country.
