CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
The author, Lee L. Pierce, has collected dolls for many years. The first doll she purchased was a Mexican gypsy doll. The doll's spooky eyes gave Lee the feeling the doll was scared and had a secret to tell. After purchasing the doll, Lee decided to find other dolls with true stories. She now has over 200 dolls from 40 countries of the world. The author creates a heartwarming tale using seven unique dolls from her collection.
"More Than Meets the Eye" (published by Xlibris) is an immensely dramatic story that weaves an intricate tale. Each doll has it own story to tell. This highly engrossing read tells of the terrifying things that happened during World War ll and how children were able to survive trauma because of the love they had for their dolls. Children, who played with dolls, never grew up with bitter hearts. Instead they learned the importance of Trust, Friendship and Love. These beautifully written stories give a unique outlook on life and help teach readers how to deal with tough times.

About the Author
Lee L. Pierce has had a rich life. Her love of children eventually led her to become a teacher in America as well as overseas. Later she became a lecturer throughout New England, New York and New Jersey using 15 dolls for each lecture explaining their different cultures. She gave lectures at International fairs, hospitals, women's clubs and at homes for the elderly. What is astounding to learn is that as a child, Lee was a tomboy. She never played with dolls or owned a doll. When she was thirteen years old, she saw the gypsy doll in a bookstore window in New York City and her life changed forever.
