Like most educators, Barry Wright is determined to make the world a better place.

During his time in education, Wright co-authored the first mathematics textbook series in Canada for Prentice-Hall, "Mathscope," assisted local environmental group, "Future Builders," and was campaign manager for the local regional councilor.

During his retirement from education, Wright has switched gears from academic writing to entertaining fiction. His new adventure thriller, "Betrayal of Trust," combines Wright's dedication to fact and research with his passion for storytelling.

"It started with the question, 'What will be my legacy?'" Wright says. "Similar to the protagonist in my novel, I wanted to say that I too was a person who not only walked on this Earth but continuously strove to be the best that he could be no matter his age or life's trials and tribulations."

Conveying the key role structure and factual material play in storytelling, "Betrayal of Trust" explores the importance of taking risks and stepping outside one's comfort zone, the effects that corporate and political corruption have on the community, and the detrimental wear work obsession can have on relationships.

Through the book, Wright has one ultimate goal: that readers will recognize that good, creative writing takes a dedicated willingness to learn, try and never quit.

"Helping others to be the best that they can be is an integral part of who I am," Wright says. "How I will use my novels and gifts to do that is part of the wonderful mystery of life and my openness to all the possibilities."
