Laura Lavayén Renews 2014 Marketing Campaign for 'Dogs, Owners of the City'

OCEAN CITY, N.J.

Dog lover and author Laura Lavayén delivers a compelling plea for readers to take note of their responsibility to protect and care for dogs in her new novel, "Dogs, Owners of the City" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Lavayén has created a fictional story to add a more personal appeal to her campaign to help dogs. Readers will follow a love story between Marceala and Samuel, but will revel in the way dogs are involved in their lives.

As Lavayén explains, far too many dogs roam city streets without food, shelter or the loving touch of a human. She believes dogs' rights and feelings are being ignored.

"They are often treated like objects of possession rather than the precious beings that they are," Lavayén says.

Although protective laws are in place and many organizations, such as the ASPCA, are dedicated to rescuing dogs, Lavayén sees the problem persist despite these safety measures. With "Dogs, Owners of the City," she posits that dogs should matter much more in today's society. She believes people can work together to raise awareness about this issue, and that dogs and people are meant to protect each other.
