The inspiration for the book "Sprinkles on the Gruel" (published by Trafford Publishing) first came to existence when the author Larry Parry Neilson told his wife that he hated gruel. His wife then sagely answered that maybe sprinkles on the gruel might help him like it. This simple answer gave the author the inspiration to create an enchanting story about being optimistic about one's life.

"Sprinkles on the Gruel" follows Anna who was raised in an orphanage. One day when she was dumping the disgusting toilet bucket, she heard a voice saying "LOOK FOR THE SPRINKLES." Looking around however there was no one there. On her way back down the hill, she fell and got some of the terrible smelling gunk on her dress. In an attempt to wash off the foul smelling liquid in a nearby river, she almost drowned. Life truly seems bleak for her. That is until she goes on an adventure that would change not only her life, but the lives of everyone in the orphanage.

This book was originally created as a moral lesson for the author's own family. The story became so popular during family gatherings that it prompted the author to have it published, so that readers young and old will be able to partake of its undeniable charm and moral lessons.
