So what is Cinco de Mayo supposed to be celebrating?

"Cinco de Mayo" commemorates the Mexican victory over French troops that occupied Mexico at the Battle of Puebla when Benito Juarez was their general," responds Frobose.

That's news to most Americans. But there's more.

According to Frobose, Cinco de Mayo is not really celebrated as a holiday in Mexico.

"I don't want to shock anyone, but the best place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo is in the United States and not in Mexico," Mark explains. "They don't really celebrate the holiday very much south of the border."
