EDEN, N.C. - "The Allens have been wronged," states Betsy Chandler, clearing the past accusations about her very dear, upright and remarkable J. Sidna Allen family, which has been publically eyed and scrutinized for more than 100 years. She contests the claims that they were outlaws, and characterizes their allegations as outlandish fabrications and provides proof that they were not criminals. She shines "Light in A Dark Place" (published by Xlibris) and shares Biblical Principles to guide readers to choose Christ while at the same time using facts to free her grandfather and family from the accusations of gangsterism. Bringing to light their achievements along with her testimony, she says, has become "the prime joy of my latter existence on this earth."

According to Chandler, time tells it all. The Allen's never were outlaws, never a gang, there was no conspiracy among them and there is an affidavit to that effect. In her book, she presents facts, as opposed to elaborate allegations that the media and sensationalist journalists have propagated. She depicts the events surrounding her grandfather, which took place in Hillsville, Virginia. He is the central figure and the narrative highlights his prison experiences and the events around it. Chandler also discusses her own convictions leading her to the greatest happening in her life, which was coming to know the Lord Jesus personally in her younger years. The events in her life primarily occur in the Tri-Cities, Leaksville, Spray and Draper, now known as Eden, North Carolina.

Chandler exonerates her ancestors while, at the same time, relates it with her own journey of spiritual enlightenment, showing how faith alone in Christ can bring a "Light in A Dark Place" to guide those navigating the unpredictable terrains of life.
