Author Ann Lowrance Allman never imagined her career would take her to the places it did. She once worked in Argentina, traveled through other countries and experienced many adventures. Now, Allman takes a retrospective look at the moments that shaped her life in her new memoir, "Laughter on My Path: An Educator's Funny and Compelling Encounters with People, Problems, and Pets" (published by WestBow Press).
Allman shares her story of growing up the daughter of a medical school professor. She provides humorous anecdotes of human brains on the kitchen table, being introduced to cadavers and learning about puberty through "Gray's Anatomy." As an adult, she marries the wrong man who subsequently becomes her brother-in-law and thus her sons' "Uncle Dad." Formerly Ann Hamilton, when she becomes Joplin Senior High School's dean of girls, she meets Joplin's entertaining school superintendent, who would become her husband 10 years later.
An excerpt from "Laughter on My Path":
"Laughter. After all these years, life for most of our Christian family still kept up with our heritage of laughter, mischief, and love. Laughter was the stimulus, the balm, the connecting link, the healer, and the passage into the next life stage without fear. If you could laugh, especially at yourself, you could accomplish almost anything."
