For 23 years, author and accountant L.A. Symons travelled the world for business and pleasure with her stuffed bear, Gear Bear. Now, Gear Bear speaks out in Symons' new book that's part travelogue, part social commentary, "Gear Bear Adventures: As Told by Gear Bear" (published by iUniverse).
"Everything in 'Gear Bears Adventures' is true and has happened," says Symons, "It's everyday life, but a lot of us don't stop and see the humor in things that happen or the rudeness or kindness of others. It's just nice to be able to laugh out loud sometimes about the stupid things that happen to us."
Gear Bear has yet to meet a country he didn't like. The teddy bear with the button nose has done a lot of traveling throughout the years and wants to share his adventure with readers. From skiing in France to climbing pyramids in Mexico, there's no place too boring or too dangerous for Gear Bear. The book chronicles Gear Bears exploits as he is lost, left behind and even bear-napped, all while giving his straight-forward and honest opinions about the people and places he encounters along the way.
An excerpt from "Gear Bear Adventures":
"I exercised restraint while the lady was bending over- and her undies were showing -against grabbing those tighty-whites and yanking just as hard as I could to give her a much-deserved wedgie. Maybe that would adjust her attitude."
"Gear Bear Adventures" is sure to relate to any reader who has raced to an airport terminal or dreamed of seeing the Eiffel Tower up close. She hopes to inspire "a smile, a giggle or hearing them say, 'That's happen to me!'" in her readers.
