Love is a powerful force, sometimes extending its reach beyond the grave to change lives. A dying general hopes to make amends to honor the woman he loved, according to the story in this new novel, and he enlists the help of his former colleague to do so. He has no idea, however, that his action will set into motion a love story that rises above its unusual beginnings.

Major-Gen. James Westwood, lying in a hospital bed riddled with cancer, has visions of his abandoned love, Zander, who leads him to the realization he must right a terrible wrong. Bleu, his estranged daughter, must become sole heir to his millions. Col. William Hager, his 50ish, brooding friend, will bring her the news of Westwood's death and his legacy. Known for his love of drinking, string of women and uncaring attitude toward society, Hager has given up on love. But when he meets the beautiful and exotic 22-year-old Bleu, he immediately feels a spark.

"Simply Bleu" relays Bleu's sad beginnings as the child of 16-year-old Zander, who has eyes only for her lover and pines away not long after the Marine abandons the pair. Westwood, not known for his kindness, is a father figure to Hager, who can be counted on to follow orders. Hager continues that tradition when he moves up to black operations for the military, doing what needs to be done. When Hager and Bleu meet they are strangers, but sparks soon begin to fly.

Can he win Bleu's heart while she works to fulfill the conditions of Westwood's will or will his closed heart end their relationship before it has time to blossom? She has dreamed of finding a Prince Charming to call her own, but jealousy and secrets threaten their love even as their passion builds during every encounter.

Author L. Millian has two daughters and one granddaughter. She writes that the novel was inspired by a dream about a character in a movie.
