Author Kris Lynn takes a different approach to the classic romance novel with her dark, sexy new book, "Oblivion" (published by iUniverse).

"I thought to myself, 'What if there was a book where all the characters are not good people?'" Lynn says. "Maybe for once I didn't want to root for the main character. I wanted something with all the attitude, gore and vulgarity that your average novel doesn't have."

The novel's protagonist, Trinity, is attracted to mankind's darkest obsessions - death, torture, suffering and despair. She knows there's a reason for this attraction, even if she doesn't know what it is. She quits her day job to focus on her art and on the night of her first gallery opening, she meets a man drawn to her particularly morbid brand of art.

As he tempts her with all the things she thinks she desires - fame, money, power and sex - Trinity must fight for her soul. Only by losing everything and facing damnation can she find what she truly longs for. As lies tangle in her head, readers won't quite know what is really happening until Trinity figures it out for herself.

Lynn uses Trinity - a relatable, flawed, sarcastic and damaged main character - to show readers how greed and lust can taint a person's perspective.
