Kobo, a global leader in eReading, today announced special offers on its world-class eReading devices and a series of great book recommendations to kick off the summer season. Popular eBooks this summer include The Son by Philipp Meyer, A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin, and Stephen King's Under the Dome, which has been adapted for television in a series of the same name.

From July 5-11, and July 19-25, Canadians can take advantage of a sizzling summer offer* on the Kobo Arc tablet, with savings of $50 on the 16GB, $75 on the 32GB, and $100 on the 64GB models. The offer is available exclusively at top Canadian retailers including: Chapters-Indigo-Coles, Best Buy, Future Shop, Staples, Target (in-store only), The Source (online only), and Walmart (online only), as well as Kobo.com. For those who prefer a dedicated eReading experience, the company's award-winning E Ink eReader are perfect with their no-glare screens for reading in the sun. The Kobo Mini is available for $39.99 and the Kobo Touch for $69.99 now until July 18.*

"We buy books all year long, but summer is when we have time to read them," said Michael Tamblyn, Chief Content Officer, Kobo. "Kobo Readers logged more than 11.9 million hours reading in the summer months last year and it's easy to see why. Summer is when all of the benefits of eReading - instant access, low prices, incredible selection and devices or apps that go anywhere - become most compelling, whether you're a kid with a free afternoon or a grownup enjoying the first day of vacation."

Kobo's recommended reads this summer are:

Break-out thrillers like Dan Brown's Inferno, The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag, or The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Goldberg Lee. For kids who like spooky stories, consider Doll Bones by Holly Black or The Dark by Lemony Snicket and Jon Klassen. Have a friend that recently graduated? Kelly Williams Brown's latest book Adulting: How to Become a Grown-up in 468 Easy(ish) Steps is sure to keep them motivated, while this summer's best beach reads include Island Girls by Nancy Thayer, Dorothea Benton Frank's The Last Original Wife, or The Way You Look Tonight: The Sullivans by Bella Andre. And if you're not able to get away this summer, take a mental vacation with books like Graeme Simsion's The Rosie Project, Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, or Carl Hiaasen's Bad Monkey.

KOBO ARC - READS YOU LIKE A BOOK
Like a good book, this is the tablet that you won't be able to put down this summer - whether you're reading the next bestseller, playing your favourite games, or watching your must-see TV series. The Kobo Arc's 7" high-definition display delivers crisp, sharp text, and its 1.5 GHz processor make it easy to enjoy a highly-responsive, ultra-fast web browsing and multitasking experience. This Google-certified Android 4.1 tablet has access to the Google Play store, which offers more than 700,000 apps and games, with much-loved pre-loaded apps like Facebook, Twitter, Rdio, Zinio, and PressReader. The device's 16-million colours, brings photos and videos to life, and with front-facing speakers with SRS TruMedia, a built-in microphone, and high-resolution 1.3 MP camera, it's perfect for taking photos and videos. The Kobo Arc offers up to 10 hours of continuous reading or video play, and two weeks on standby. Kobo Arc's exclusive interface, Tapestries, allows users to collect and curate content of interest in dynamic, visual Tapestries by "pinning" content to the home screen. The Discover Ribbon leverages a cross-media recommendations engine to recommend related content based on the items pinned to Tapestries. The more users collect in their Tapestries the more the Kobo Arc learns what they love and provides them with more engaging content - an engaging new way to discover content from eBooks, movies, and TV shows, to music, web pages, and more. The Kobo Arc is available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations and is available in black and white.
