In "Deadwood and Beyond," Meyerhoff lays the backstory for the rough-around-the-edges private investigator and introduces a character he plans to keep around in his upcoming novels. The series begins with Rollo's arrest at a murder scene in Deadwood, South Dakota.
"Crime and punishment don't always equal justice," Meyerhoff said. "The system can fail and, when it does, Michaels finds himself fighting an uphill battle, while trying to keep his business afloat and clearing his name."
A retired police officer, himself, Meyerhoff tapped into his own experiences, when writing this book.
"This book is loosely based on a combination of some cases I worked on when I had my own private investigation firm," Meyerhoff said. "All of the characters are based on real people I've met throughout my life and career. Sometimes it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys and it's the same in real life."
