In "The Lost Lamb" (published by iUniverse), veteran author Kenny Ferguson's new novel, readers explore the reality of miracles, forgiveness and the power of second chances with Angus Branigan.

Angus Branigan is a 38-year-old abusive husband and father. He's a compulsive gambler, lazy, self-centered good-for-nothing. One day, while attempting to get away from the police after a botched robbery, he is shot in the back three times.

As Angus stumbles through the streets and alleys in lower Manhattan during a thunderstorm, bleeding, he finds himself at the Epiphany Church. Alone and dying, he argues his right to live with the statue of a shepherd holding a baby lamb. As his breath escapes him, he magically swaps his soul with that of the statue and finds himself outside the church uninjured, wearing an expensive suit with money in its pocket.

What does this mean for Angus? Is this his chance at a second attempt at life, or has he already passed and this is only a dream? Throughout "The Lost Lamb," readers will follow Angus as he tries to figure out what has happened to him and just how powerful the Lord is.

An excerpt from the book:

"Six-year old, Adam Branigan remembers the times he was struck by his father but follows him because he thinks his father is leaving him forever today. 'I need you, Daddy.' The boy cried, 'Angus needs you and Mommy needs you too. She said you weren't coming back.'"
