Ken Filing, author of 'Heartbeat in the Amazon,' continues his enthralling saga with the publication of "Mistress of the Amazon" (published by Trafford Publishing). This book chronicles a daughter's search for her father.
After a devastating battle with an aboriginal tribe, the beautiful blonde leader of an Amazon tribe, Cassania, was wounded. When she recovered, she found that she is pregnant from an encounter with a missionary doctor. She gave birth to Calida who was destined to be the leader of the clan. But an earthquake put a tragic end to this promising future. As the only survivor from the village, the young girl embarks on a quest to locate her father. Her adventures are filled with pitfalls and obstacles. Will she be able to overcome them all?
A sample passage from the book:
Spain came to the New World, and encountered these Amazon women. They in turn named the gigantic river after this legendary tribe of sexually liberated women warriors and called it the Amazon River.
With its well-drawn characters and riveting twists and turns, this compelling tale describes to readers the perils of the Amazon rainforest. It also aims to raise their awareness about its gradual destruction at the hands of humans' selfishness.
