After the death of her son, Kelly J Bawden, MS, LMFT, spent the following four years just trying to exist. Fighting day by day, she finally made the choice to not simply exist, but to live. In "Mental Health Tips" (published by Balboa Press), Bawden shares the story of her daily struggles and offers tips to help others overcome their mental hurdles and gain control over their lives.

"Mental health can affect every part of our life. Mental health is not separate from us it is a part of us," Bawden explains. "This book is about improving life by learning to take care of your mental health."

Bawden leans on her education and personal experience to explain to readers what mental health is, destigmatize conversations about mental health and encourage emotional wellness.

"We tend to avoid mental health as an issue but the reality is that our mental health can create a stress-filled, angry life or a grateful and happy life," says Bawden. "Learning and using just a few of these mental health tips can decrease self-destructive behaviors and improve overall life. My hope is that readers will take some mental health tips and improve their overall life."
