Three brothers find themselves orphaned after their parents die and decide to travel across the country to find legendary Great Spirits who can help save their world from civil war. This imaginative debut novel by a teen author features adventure and heroism in a savage land, narrated by Wilder and featuring Shadow and Demon, his older brothers. A charming captor lures Wilder away from his family, but eventually he learns his true destiny.

"Spirit Quest" delves into a world surrounded by a Sea of Tears, Deep Forest and Spirit Mountains, divided into a Wolf Realm by the mountains - where the brothers dwell - and the Human Realm by the sea. As Wilder matures from a cub to a wolf, he encounters a bear, a dragon and a devious snake and must look into his heart to discover the truth. He and his brothers have some allies for the journey: two flower fairies and their pet, as well as some friends they make along the way. They also receive guidance from the ghosts of their parents and an ancient ballad. Magic spells, incredible transformations and epic battles will reveal the fate of those who live in this wild kingdom

This is the first novel for author Katie Cruickshank, who is 13 years old. The book began as a short story in a notebook at a young friend's birthday party. Cruickshank lives with her parents, four older brothers and dog Dakota.
