The valley's celebrated Christian author, speaker and advocate, Kathe Wunnenberg, has penned a new book titled, Hopelifter: Creative Ways to Spread Hope when Life Hurts. Zondervan released the book, which includes, "One Hundred Recipes of Hope," on August 6th.

Wunnenberg, who makes her home in Ahwatukee, previously authored a trilogy of books offering comfort and inspiration to those navigating grief. Drawing on personal experience and a deeply committed faith, her life's mission is to serve as a vehicle to share a message of hope and healing in the midst of trials.

"During an extreme season of personal and family suffering, I questioned why God would allow more painful circumstances in my life," says Wunnenberg. Among other trials, she suffered multiple miscarriages, and lost a full-term baby at birth. After tapping into God's restorative power, Wunnenberg founded an organization dedicated to multiplying hope and healing among the brokenhearted. Every spring, in honor of Mother's Day, she and her team of "Hopelifters" leads a daytrip for moms who have lost a child, offering space to grieve, encouragement, and a chance to connect with one another.

"If you've ever had to bear witness to another's suffering, and thought, I wish there was something I could do to ease the pain... this book is for you. It's for women who want to lift a friend's spirit as they cope with crisis, depression, loss, pain, fear or heartbreak. I hope this book takes the mystery out of how to be the hands of feet of Jesus - to walk alongside someone in pain, and offer hope and help," says Wunnenberg.

The book offers a historical account of our primal need for hope in difficult, even unthinkable circumstances, such as an adult child who commits murder. Wunnenberg writes, "In the Old Testament, the word 'hope' most often invites us to look ahead eagerly with trust and confident expectation." Wunnenberg also invited dozens of contributors to help her chronicle,"100 Recipes of Hope," each story offering an idea for uplifting those facing issues such as divorce, loss of a job, loneliness, hospitalization, death and dying, serious illness, natural disasters, and many more.

Hopelifter is available for pre-order on Amazon.com and will reach bookshelves on August 6, 2013.

Kathe Wunnenberg is the founder and president of Hopelifters Unlimited. She is a speaker, writer, leader, and connector known for her ability to offer creative solutions for real life problems.
