Kat Van Eyze Shares Recollection of Her Life to a Granddaughter in WINDOWS

How does a person pick up their life at a certain point when they have experienced something so traumatic to them? How does a person perform daily tasks and routine chores and be a mother when they feel like they have a knife blade in their stomach? Nothing is clear to such a woman.

Windows by author Kat Van Eyze tells the story of a grown woman's recollection of her life from her first memory to adulthood and is written to her granddaughter Nicole. Growing up in a dysfunctional family at such a young age, this woman was emotionally abused by her mother. Dawn and Johnie were all her mother had ever wanted as far as children went while she and her sister Lynette became her mother's futile attempts at having a son. As life went on, they would fully understand this to be true.

Between schoolwork, personal disappointments and lack of money even though working with three jobs, and the constant yelling, hitting, and humiliating things her mother put her through, she looks at herself in the mirror and see nothing. Time passes by and later on, she began dating Darren and they got married on November 25, 1972 and had a so named Jeffrey, who is Nicole's father.

She thought that married life and starting a family will become bliss but it turned out to be a disappointment as well. She realized that Darren is a self-centered man who only thinks things for himself, not much for his family. She has endured his fooling around for much too long until the time he decided to divorce her. She was crushed and felt that she had spent so much time being the understanding wife and supportive of all of Darren's job choices and mistakes not to mention all of the affairs she knew about and even those she did not. But then again, she was also very afraid for Jeffrey because she had no job during those times. And now, Darren was fighting her for Jeff's custody, stating that he can better able to support Jeff than her. He is trying to take Jeffrey from her, and she knew it was only because he didn't want to pay her any support. Will she be able to win the custody battle for her son? How will they begin a new life together in a very unsure environment and unfamiliar place?

From beginning to end, Windows is frank and honest read of the author's life. It vividly reflects a woman's most intimate thoughts sincerely expressed through her recollection so that she will be understood as the person she was and the person she wanted to be.

Kat Van Dyze was born on the east coast of the United States and now lives close to the west coast where she enjoys the warmer weather. She is a mother of one son and agrandmother of one little girl. She is a licensed laboratory assistant and has enjoyed working with people of all ages in a medical environment. She is a brain aneurysm survivor.
