About the Author
Karl A. Lamb was born in Worland, Wyoming, in 1933. He grew up in Colorado and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1954. He completed a dissertation on American politics at Oxford and has taught political science in the University of Michigan, the University of California, Santa Cruz, and finally the United States Naval Academy where he also served a term as academic dean. He retired in 1999. Lamb married Sally Ann Walker in 1959. There are four children and six grandsons. After a long illness, Sally passed away in 2007.
