KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, and official sponsor of PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson and Stacy Lewis, No. 1 ranked American player on the LPGA Tour, announced today that it will donate 5,000 new books to local schools for each tournament victory the golfers achieve this season. As part of KPMG's Family for Literacy initiative, the firm will select local schools in the city in which the golfers win to receive the new books for children in need.

To officially launch the program, and to salute Phil Mickelson's winning of the 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open, KPMG is donating the first 5,000 new books to the Solano Elementary School in Phoenix. In addition, KPMG volunteers will refurbish the school's library.

"We applaud Phil for winning the 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open," said John Veihmeyer, Chairman and CEO of KPMG LLP, the U.S. Audit, Tax and Advisory firm. "Going forward we will commemorate his and Stacy's wins by making contributions to a truly worthwhile cause - youth literacy. We understand that the toughest roadblock to children's literacy is access to books and we created this new win program as yet another way to help support the on-going efforts of our KPMG people and their families who have done so much to support First Book and KPMG's Family for Literacy."

KPMG's Family for Literacy began five years ago in cooperation with the non-profit First Book, and is led by the spouses of KPMG partners and professionals from across the firm's offices. To date, KPMG has delivered more than two million books to children in local communities across the country. In addition to raising money for KPMG's Family for Literacy, KPMG's extended family of volunteers, which includes partners, spouses, employees, interns and alumni, and family and friends, visit classrooms, read to children, and deliver new books to low income children-in many cases, these are the first books their families have owned.

KPMG's Family for Literacy also teamed with Mickelson and non-profit First Book to create KPMG's "Blue for Books" campaign in March 2012. The program encourages golf fans to purchase Mickelson's authentic blue KPMG Tour hat at PhilsBlueHat.com. KPMG donates 100% of the net proceeds to First Book, which gives deserving children three books for each hat sold. Since the inception of the Blue for Books program, more than 40,000 books have been donated from the proceeds of hat sales.

"I'm so proud to be part of this KPMG literacy initiative and I'm thrilled that we will be donating 5,000 new books to the Solano Elementary School in honor of Phil's win this weekend," said Lisa Daniels, managing partner of KPMG's Phoenix office. "It's part of our drive to provide new books for children in need and inspire a lifetime love of reading. Our local office volunteers are also excited about the opportunity to refurbish the school's library to give kids an improved environment to learn and grow."
