Logging issues are considered global problems by many. Sarawak, Malaysia, hometown of K. C. Linggi and Laing Imang, is no exception. In their book "Almost an Army Cadet, Always a Forester" (published by Trafford Singapore), Linggi and Imang divulge the coming of forestry operations to interior Baram, Sarawak, and its impact on forest communities through the detailing of their experiences.

Penans are nomadic aboriginal people living in the forests of Malaysia. These are the same people who primarily opposed the forestry operations planned for Sarawak. This book is about the development and progression of a forestry operation inside Sarawak, touching on local community consultation and Penan protest against logging. Other current issues like quality management and sustainable forest management are touched upon too.

With over two decades of experience working in the same timber company together, Linggi and Imang have a wealth of knowledge to share in this book. Through their dedication to their work and passion for writing, Linggi and Imang are able to share an important life story of a significant job that helps protect and conserve Mother Nature. "Almost an Army Cadet, Always a Forester" is an eye opening example of the difference one can make in nature.
