Author Justin Fenech takes readers on a literary journey that explores the beauties of a life lived well and the moral implications that come as a result in his expansive new novel, "Too Many Sparrows in Zaragoza" (published by AuthorHouse).

Nadi, a psychologist from Malta, is the story's narrator. She takes a holiday to the Spanish city of Zaragoza to catch up with her old friend, Luis, who is also Maltese. Zaragoza, the capital of Spain's Aragon region, emerges as a character in its own right. "I chose it because it has the best of Spain," Fenech explains. "Grand squares teeming with life. A history laden with Romans, Moors, and Napoleons. And an architecture that is at once impervious and subservient to life."

Speaking with the voice of reason, Nadi studies and rationalizes everything she learns in Zaragoza as only a psychologist could. Even when she partakes in the action, she does so with her eyes wide open. Luis, meanwhile, is a journalist with a passion for life who exposes Nadi to a new lifestyle. Charismatic, ideal and playful, Luis has a great knack for self-justification, and his words and actions show readers how he lives life to the fullest, without inhibitions.

"This world is all we have," Fenech writes. "That might seem a somber fact at first. But when one considers what a damn well wonderful place the world is, somehow it doesn't seem all too bad."
