Death anxiety is unconscious and needs understanding and non-judgmental support in a loving environment. As a nurse by profession, author Joy Nugent was inspired to write the book titled "As Good as Goodbyes Get" (published by Balboa Press AU), her work came from her inward desire to make sense of what she was experiencing at the bedside of patients who were dying. The book centers about questions concerned on the purpose of life and the role of forgiveness, compassion and love play in making the transition from life to death a peaceful one.

"My book is a collection of very readable stories of the most important time in a person's life. I view death as a graduation from life on earth and, if well supported and understood, can be an inspiration for generations to come," Nugent describes her book.

"As Good as Goodbyes Get" hopes to remove the fear of dying to enable a person to live their lives in a full and enriching way.

"A nurse in a private palliative care practice is unique in itself. The book is intended to be an inspiration for the profession of nursing to take its place alongside other allied health professionals and to demonstrate the rewards, which are much more than financial, to be achieved from a more relationship and flexible way of nursing in private practice," Nugent concludes.
