The new memoir "Trying to Catch the Wind: Memoir of a Love That Was More Than Love" (published by iUniverse), by Josef N. Ferri, recalls the author's struggle to find love and happiness in a tumultuous and chaotic personal world amidst the political and social upheaval of the 1960s.
Just as the second half of the 1960s began to unfold, Ferri met his first love/soul mate and felt an immediate deep and profound connection. They were drawn into a meaningful conversation that was beyond teenage small talk and their tender age.
From the night of their innocent and romantic first date a short time later, they were faced with huge obstacles. On that very same night as they were returning from their first date, they were nearly killed in an accident by a drunk driver.
An excerpt from "Trying to Catch the Wind":
"I uttered in a hushed, emotional whisper, "I love you with all my heart!"
Then she echoed my mantra: "I love you, my darling, with all my heart, too!" I could smell her perfume, Wind Song by Prince Machiabelli, and it enveloped me in its glorious scent. We embraced tightly, and her warm, silky, magnificent skin and hair touched my face. Nothing and no one else in the world mattered: I had stepped into Eden and was with my Eve."
"Although people can lose their first love and most important soul mate, they can still find a reason to go on with their lives," Ferri writes. "If they open their hearts, a new love is possible. Beauty and meaning, too, abound all around - if they open their minds and hearts."
