Author and historian Jose A.M. Nolla combines research with his expansive military knowledge in his new book, "Cielos Grises: Aventuras de los Ramirez" (published by Trafford Publishing), the second of his seven books published in Spanish.
Set in the early 1860s, "Cielos Grises" tells the story of Antonio Ramirez, a young captain of the Calvary in the Spanish army. Though advised by his father to join the Union army, Antonio is swept away with the romantic notion of defending a country and decides to join the Confederates. In Texas, Antonio proves his strength in battle and moves up in the Confederate army. His adventures will capture the imagination of readers as he travels from the Pacific Ocean to the Potomac River and everywhere in between.
"There are very few books like this one," Nolla says, "for the reader will not only enjoy reading the story, but will also learn about historical facts he or she has never been aware of before."
An excerpt from "Cielos Grises":
