As a young boy growing up in a small Florida town, John W. Harris always enjoyed stories the old timers would tell about their experiences as wayward teenagers, their personal struggles, and the joys of living a long life. The spirit of those stories became the inspiration for Harris' book "No Ordinary Journey," an inspiring tale which chronicles a boy's life from innocent teenage years to his enlightening transition into manhood.

Americans in the 1960s were affected by many revolutions that would change the course of their nation's history. There was the musical revolution, sexual revolution, social revolution, educational revolution, racial integration, race riots, and the effects of the Vietnam War. For a young black man like Nathan Summerdale, many of these changes had not yet reached the small city of Sarasota. Nathan knew that in order for him to experience these exciting changes, he had to leave his small community of Newtown.

Readers will join Nathan as he embarks on a personal journey to maturity, learning and making a difference one step at a time. As Nathan continues to live and build life far away from home, he will find romance, learn the ways of the rich and find ways how to win his beloved and eventually succeed in life. As his journey unfolds, readers will see how perseverance and determination can get a man where he wants to be.

With themes of romance, man's survival and how to fit in a new place, Nathan's life journey becomes relatable to every reader. Filled with life's lesson in each page and a simple yet engaging storytelling tone, this book is suited for readers who love an inspiring and romantic story. All in all, this tale of dreams, hope and determination is a real manifestation how man can embark in a "No Ordinary Journey" and still come out successful because of an optimistic nature.
