John Mulhall released his debut novel - a supernatural thriller titled Geddy's Moon - in late February to a flurry of five-star ratings and glowing reviews. Since then, the book has shot up the Amazon Kindle Top Rated charts, and is already ranked #33 in Horror and #9 in Occult & Supernatural. "Surprising genius from [a] first time author," one reader remarked, while another declared it "one of the very best horror stories I have ever read." Still another reviewer called Mulhall "Stephen King for a new generation."
"I think many people have preconceived notions about the horror genre," says Mulhall, "If my book is a pleasant surprise, that's one of the best compliments I could receive. That was one of my goals setting out." The story of Geddy's Moon was inspired more than twenty years ago when Mulhall studied psychogenic fugue states in a college psychology class. "I found myself wondering what could happen in someone's life that would be so horrible that they'd just erase their past to get away from it," he says. Reacting to the novel's rapid climb up Amazon's charts, Mulhall said, "This has been a labor of love. I'm truly gratified that people are connecting so strongly with the book."
Geddy's Moon, the first book in a planned trilogy, is currently available on Amazon Kindle and will also be released in hardcover and paperback in the coming month. As part of the launch, the book is being offered as a free download on March 19-21 at http://www.amazon.com/Geddys-Moon-ebook/dp/B00BIUXZ8A/. This promotion will kick off several events tied to the release, including an appearance at the L.A. Times Festival of Books in April.
In addition to being an author, John Mulhall is the Founder/CEO of a creative agency.
