Author John J. Scalercio has personally witnessed the grief and permanent harm that rape can cause to both the victims and their loved ones, and has personally lived through the premature death of his youngest sister, who succumbed to an incurable blood disease at the age of eight. Life has shown him that no one is immune to tragedy. Even the strongest, smartest and most determined of persons can find themselves in unforeseen, horrific situations beyond their control, and it is this cold truth which he portrays in his new novel. Scalercio's uncompromising narrative will take readers into a dark journey to witness transformation of grief and loss into a maddening thirst for revenge that will only descend into further bloodshed if it is not stopped Before It's Too Late.
The tale shows just how fragile and unpredictable life really is, despite all appearances to the contrary. It focuses on the life of Dr. Bill Rossi, an exceptional surgeon who rises from meager beginnings to fulfill all of his goals. By doing so, he has become a highly respected pillar of his community, with an affluent family charmed with multiple blessings. For him, the American Dream has come true, and he is living in it. When tragedy suddenly strikes, Rossi, who has become seduced by privilege and the illusion of being in control of his life, is left a broken man.
The brutal murder of his daughter drives him over the edge, he loses control of his better judgment and lets his grief, rage and frustration control him. Being unable to regain control of his rational mind Before It's Too Late, and in spite of his wife's warnings, sets out on a course of actions fueled by wrath and vengeance. This culminates in a roller-coaster chain of events so terrifying and suspenseful that readers will be stunned by this story even long after they have finished reading it.
Scalercio's thriller illustrates that life is not a problem to be solved; it is a mystery to be lived. No matter how many precautions one may take to ensure their safety and security, tragedy can strike at any moment, leaving devastating grief and irreparable damage behind. Before It's Too Late is a well-constructed, extreme example of what further damage can ensue as a result of one's failure to retain their usual, normal, good behavior and sound judgment, thereby falling prey to their base emotions of rage and revenge.
