PHILADELPHIA - Up on the hill was a world Tom O'Leary would grow to love. When he was a kid, Tom would always asks his dad to take him along with him while the latter work on top of the hill. When he got older, his dad would teach him the trade and his desire to be up on the hill was fulfilled. Little did Tom know, up on the Chestnut Hill is where his life and livelihood will commence.

"Two Lives Up on the Hill" tells the story of the lives of two people who are as diverse from each other. Marie Cameron is a young lady from a fine, upper-class family, residing in the prestigious area of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. Her father is a prominent attorney. Tom O'Leary is a young man of humble means, born and raised in the poor section of Lower Germantown by his parents. Tom's father is a carpenter and a top rank cabinetmaker.He learns his trade from his father.

Marie and Tom fall in love. After a year, they break up, each going their separate ways. However, for the remainder of their lives, they remain close and dear friends. Marie would become a topnotch attorney while Tom becomes a hardworking family man.

A highly interesting and memorable read, "Two Lives Up on the Hill" presents to readers a unique tale of two people who came from different background but have so much in common. The stark difference in both their well-drawn personalities is the supple, subtle and strong material in which this remarkable story was created. About the Author
John J. Riley is a retired piano restorer and merchant, having run his piano business in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for 57 years. He is a widower, the father of six children and grandfather of seven. After his retirement, he has written and published four books. "Two Lives" is his fifth effort. Riley's writings have an element of yesteryear, of glorious memories of times and places of a gentle world. His characters evoke memories of people we have and can identify with, ever so human, doing their best to survive in a hard and rude world.
