Public media meets the publishing world this week at one of the biggest events in the book world. The Bookview/Detroit Public Television crew are in New York to capture and live stream BookExpo America and BookCon, starting Friday, May 29 through Sunday May 31 thanks to funding from the Wyncote Foundation. Book View Now, www.BookViewNow.org, will give book lovers everywhere the opportunity to learn about the newest releases and hear directly from major authors and celebrities in the comfort of their own homes.
Coverage will start on Friday, May 29 with a live stream of BookExpo America from 12 to 4 p.m. onwww.BookViewNow.org and interviews with famous authors including John Grisham, Gregory Maguire,James Patterson, Lee Child, as well as Academy Award-winning actress/author Julianne Moore, Amy Cuddy, Pulitzer Prize winner Geraldine Brooks, swimmer/author Diana Nyad, actor Nathan Lane, icon Judy Blume, actor Jesse Eisenberg, and many others.
Following Friday's coverage of BookExpo America, Book View Now's coverage will shift to BookCon, starting on Saturday, May 30 from 12 to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, May 31 from 12 to 4 p.m. This will feature an on-air segment with Star Wars books from Disney, hosted by one of the Star Wars book authors, Tony DiTerlizzi, and featuring all of the Star Wars authors on the set. Other interviews feature Margaret Stohl, bestselling author of the Beautiful Creatures series, Sarah Dessen, Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy), Gayle Forman (If I Stay),Melissa de la Cruz, Jenny Han, Lauren Oliver, Mo Willems (Knuffle Bunny Piegeon), and others.
The third day of Book View Now's coverage will feature guest host and graphic novelist, Ben Hatke, who will interview three of the biggest graphic novel stars, including Jeff Smith (Bone), Raine Telgemeir (Sisters) andJenni Holm (BabyMouse). In addition, host guests Libba Bray, National Book Award winner Jacqueline Woodson, Brian Selznick (Caldecott winter for The Invention of Hugo Cabret), Humans of New York's Brandon Stanton, plus a feature on the authors behind the We Need Diverse Books Initiative.
