When someone spends weeks at a time in the wilds of the west, it's likely the person will have lots of encounters with the native fauna. An avid fisherman and hiker shares photos he's taken during his extended trips exploring lakes and trails in a new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

In the course of his time spent in Idaho, Montana and Washington gathering information for fishing guides, author John E. Moore has had encounters with a fair share of local wildlife. Moose, antelope, deer, bison, bear and mountain goats are just a few of the animals he has been able to "shoot" with his camera. Just as fascinating as the color photos are the snippets of commentary Moore provides, letting readers know where various photos were taken and under what circumstances.

"A Fisherman's Wildlife" offers an up-close and personal look at the wildlife that exists in the wide-open spaces found in the American West. Using caution, Moore was able to capture animals from close distances, creating an unforgettable portfolio of the beauty of nature.

Moore has written 11 fishing guides, and the 10-time Washing State record holder has certified weight records for five species of fish. Born into an outdoor-oriented family in northwest Washington, Moore enjoys searching for new places to fish and has explored sites in Idaho, Washington and Montana. He also wrote "Biography of a Man: The Life of Chuck Moore," about his father. He has three daughters, three sons-in-law and two grandsons.
