In "Ciro" (published by AuthorHouse), Joe DeMono's eclectic debut novel, readers are led toward spiritual revelations the author believes were divinely delivered to him, woven within a captivatingly clever work of fiction that includes a full-length novel, poetry, and short stories. DeMono's poetry is haunting. Each short, as he refers to the mini-stories, packs a punch. And the novel itself - the story of one young man's transition from earthly life to the hereafter - is nothing less than a sacred epiphany.

An excerpt from "Ciro":

"It seems useless to describe my moment of death, because it didn't feel final, even when I lost my footing, slipped, and free-fell to the street. It seemed to happen in slow motion, as I hovered above my body and watched it fall. The enchanting voice that seemed to whisper my name was now visible - a gossamer shape in a silver dress that waved in the wind. She smiled at me. And before she could speak, I realized who she was - this was my guardian angel.

She outstretched her hands, guiding me higher into the sky, even as my body dropped downward. I felt light, as if I weighed nothing at all. Her dress danced even faster in the wind that seemed to pass through me. The blue sky turned deep purple - like some sort of magical aurora. I started to notice pinholes of stars, in a myriad of colors, piercing through the tarp of purple. At once, I recognized the angel.

'I know who you are,' I said, without hesitation.

'You do?' she smiled.

'You're the angel we put up every year on our Christmas tree. You look exactly like her!'"
