Author Jena C. Henry hopes to encourage and support readers during their "golden years" with her new novel, "The Golden Age of Charli: RSVP" (published by iUniverse). This first book in a planned series has been selected for inclusion in the iUniverse Rising Star program, which recognizes excellence in writing and overall potential.
Charlotte McAntic, or Charli for short, is a high-energy wife who spent her 30s, 40s and 50s aligning her marriage, mortgage, careers and children. As she and her husband, Pud, stumble into retirement and their golden years, Charli cannot help but wonder where the gold - and her husband - is hiding.
Pud is happily cruising through retirement at the golf course while Charli spends her days cleaning the house. She longs to gaze deeply into Pud's eyes, but the only thing Pud has his eyes on is the next fairway. Charli knows there is more to savor in retirement than silver-hair shampoos, senior discounts and hernia surgery, but she wonders if it is too late for them to find their way back into each other's hearts and live happily ever after.
"Retirees are ready to embrace the world - and each other," Henry says. "I want to be a positive encourager and let readers know that conversation, laughter, wine, good food and romance put the zing into the 'sunset years.'"
