Author Jeanne Webb spent over 30 years serving as a flight attendant. In "Hey, Lady! Hey, Waitress! Hey, Miss! Yoo-Hoo, Stewardess!" (published by Archway Publishing), Webb describes the life of a woman working as a flight attendant - from celebrity encounters, strange conversations and infuriating remarks - and what she learned from her life and career in flight.
Webb's personal account of life in the sky will give readers an insider's eye on the humorous, frustrating and often bewildering experiences flight attendants go through on a daily basis.
"People today are not showing the respect for flight attendants that they showed during my career," Webb says. "People forget that their real purpose for being on an airplane is to ensure the safety of the passengers." Webb hopes this book will contribute to correcting current treatment and misperceptions.
An excerpt from "Hey, Lady! Hey, Waitress! Hey, Miss!":
I still get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye when I hear an airplane taking off or hear the whine of the jet engines of a low flying plane and I say a quiet prayer that everyone on board will be safe and at least half as happy as most of us were. I tell all of my friends that I am going to that "big airline in the sky" and they say that I probably will not see any of my friends there and that I'd better change my mind. Only time will tell.
