"India, My Love: A Collection of Poetry" (published by iUniverse) is poet Jay Kotek's second collection of poetry. Kotek's work reflects the influence of philosophical, cultural, historical and political aspects of an individual growing up in India, expressing the poet's desire to correct what he calls the flaws in the life situations that exist to make India an egalitarian society.
"Pluralism is at threat, and it will cut the roots of democracy," says Kotek. "The fascist and fundamentalist groups disrupt the harmony among the people of a country with various linguistic, cultural groups. Peace process in the disputes can be solved only with dialogues. These are of great relevance in India."
An excerpt of the poem "Permanence" from "India, My Love":
Tears arise in pain and ecstasy / to know which is more fugacious.
What else is permanent? / The joy of knowing emboldens us
like clouds at celestial heights / glitter in colour when light falls
but are taken away to an unknown path, / leaving prints in their beauty.
The truth is that you exist in me always, / and I existed for your eternal mission.
