Inspired by her genealogical research into the Native American culture of her ancestors, author Janine Chalfant brings audiences Pohoi and Comanche Spirit Power, a novel about a young Comanche woman and the consequences of her quest for Spirit Power.

Set in the 1860s within the high plains of the Llano Estacado, Pohoi and Comanche Spirit Power is a historical about how far one young woman will go to save her people and her family - and the lessons learned when she looks inside and realizes where the real battlefield lies.

"This is a story of tradition and of history, but it's also a story that rings true in our society today," says Chalfant. "It shows that people are not so different, especially when their lives and beliefs are at stake."

Touching on themes of tradition, forgiveness, balance, and tolerance, Chalfant opens the door to the fascinating culture of the Comanche people in this story that is so relevant to the issues of intolerance and hatred in our world today.
