One year after the events of "Silentium", Danielle Wright hopes to enjoy her summer with her new friends and get her life back on track. But as the first year anniversary of the horrid day approaches, Danielle soon realizes that not all scars are visible to the eye. Some go even deeper than that.

"Tainted", an emotionally-charged fictional novel written by author Janiliz Cortes tells the story of Danielle Wright, a troubled girl with deep scars from the past. The whole upper part of her back is scarred for life with the words "silentium." She really does not know what is wrong with her. It is like she wants to blame it on jealousy or paranoia or something else. Skylar Hartly, her boyfriend, gives her the emotional support to push it forward.

But the Pandora's Box unleashed itself for Danielle. The anger and the hatred; the guilt and the grief; the violent terror of being discovered, the constant fear of what stood beyond the shadows; the anxiety of abandonment; the warmth of falling in love, of being loved, of having friends who cared, of having a family that loved her-the poisonous suffocating envy exploded violently within her mind. Will she be able to survive all of this?

"Tainted" reflects the mind of a young woman at the height of her depressive state and where logical reasoning no longer applies to her fragile personality. It delves deeper into the psyche of why suicide occurs and how it is viewed from an in-person perspective rather than an outsider's view. This book will make readers realize how important support, love, and care is for a loved one afflicted by depression. It teaches a valuable lesson that in order to move forward to the future, one must confront their inner demons and accept the past.
