A tale that is "the story of life, its hardships and its successes, but most importantly, and most unquestionably, it is above all a story of love; a story of true love and the magnetic and magical energy pull which true love creates." This is the opening to a new novel by JaNell Martin, released by Dog Ear Publishing, that focuses on the loving bond of a dog and his beloved owner, as well as what might happen when the four-legged member passes away.

"Where the Dogs Go," told from the perspective of an adorable Lhasa Apso named Monk, begins with his birth mother Ginger and follows his life through adoption by the kind owner he calls Luv to experiencing snow for the first time, meeting grandparents, and interacting with his growing family. When he lies down to sleep one final time, he has no idea of the adventure that awaits him in Eternity.

Eternity, the land beyond the rainbow bridge, is exactly that: a place where dogs are greeted by their birth mothers and made to feel welcome. Adapting to a new environment, learning new skills, and finding jobs are only a part of their Eternity transition. Making some wonderful new friends and building an exciting doggie career are just two of Monk's accomplishments in his new home. Regardless, Monk can't stop thinking about his beloved owner. In the end, the mysteries of the universe unfold, and Monk realizes that the truth lies in what his heart has always known to be true.

Actor Parker Stevenson describes the book as a "sweet, fanciful, and heart-felt tribute to the timeless connection between us and our dear canine partners. This story is as lovingly open hearted as the author JaNell Martin herself."

This is the first novel for Martin, who grew up on a farm in rural Canada and moved to the United States when she fell in love with an American. Although she and her love interest parted ways, she remained in the United States, eventually becoming a personal assistant to celebrities in Hollywood. Her real-life dog Canoli inspired her to write "Where the Dogs Go."

Martin, who began writing 15 years ago, shares some of her stories about life in Hollywood and the lessons she's learned in a blog titled WheatFieldsToWonderland: A Canadian Girl's Tips to Remaining Sane in the Upside Down World of Hollywood. Read it at www.WheatFieldsToWonderland.com.
