BILOXI, Miss.
"Secrets in the Vines" (published by Xlibris) is Jane Golden's debut mystery set in the beguilingly scenic country of Romania. This fun and captivating novel blends romance, suspense and action with the themes of friendship and politics within a women's organization.
Independent reviewer BLUE INK REVIEWS had this to say about this book: "Nothing makes an overworked genre like a mystery seem quite so fresh as a story set in an exotic locale. Secrets in the Vines takes this theory to heart, offering up a murder mystery set in the wine country surrounding (Bucharest) Romania. It's a winning formula."
In "Secrets in the Vines" readers follow the ever-so-curious Jeni, the wife of a recently appointed diplomat, as she finds cultural intrigue and lasting friendships within the International Ladies of Bucharest. It is when Jeni volunteers to help one of her new friends solve a mystery on an old family vineyard, things become complicated and she learns that trips to Romania's wine country can be deadly. She is soon caught in the middle of two murders with the police pointing fingers the wrong way. Jeni must fight back against the clock to solve both mysterious deaths before she is arrested or, worse, becomes the next victim.
"Author Jane Golden drew on her own time in Bucharest to set up this tale, and it pays off nicely. Her observations about life as a foreigner trying to make sense of a new culture are spot-on and often funny." - BLUE INK REVIEWS
"Because of terrific pacing and a plot that ends well...you will be left wanting more of this juicy escapism." - BLUE INK REVIEWS
"An engaging mystery that turns the classic expatriate dream on its head." - Kirkus Reviews
