Huntington, Ind.

According to the Stop Bullying government website, one in four students in the United States say they have been bullied in school. Author Jamison P. Stevens invites readers to tag along with a group of high school bullying victims in his new book, "The Things We Did" (published by AuthorHouse) set in the late 1980s.

Joshua, Hank, Ted and Chris haven't had the easiest time growing up. Having been branded unfairly as social outcasts and routinely bullied before even entering high school, these average boys all have a chip on their shoulder - and a love for mischief.

"Sometimes in life you become the very thing you hate without realizing it," Stevens says. "Our past does shape us, and our pasts - though often unpleasant - must be faced and conquered."

"The Things We Did" follows the group of boys as they soap cars and houses, toilet paper residences and commit other acts of petty vandalism. While they have all agreed that what they are doing is okay, they find themselves in a bind the night before graduation, when they ask themselves, "When is enough really enough?"

About the Author
Jamison P. Stevens is an elementary teacher who, after years of teaching writing to his students and helping his own family with their writing assignments, finally took some of his own advice and put together the book, "The Things We Did." He says his best revelation as a writer was discovering that his strength was in writing through the framework of his memories rather than making up stories completely from scratch.
