James Patterson, Brownstone Jazz and More Featured in CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY Today

The all-new July 2015 edition of CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY, hosted by Carol Anne Riddell from Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Queens, begins today, July 10 (2015) at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm on CUNY TV*. (The show is repeated Sunday 7/12 at noon and returns Friday 7/24 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm and on Sunday 7/26 at noon on CUNY TV.) On and after July 10, the program may be viewed anytime on www.cuny.tv.

Mike Gilliam gets a tour of the Tenement Museum at 97 Orchard Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side from Annie Polland, Senior Vice President, Education & Programs. Home to over 7,000 immigrants over a 70-year period beginning in the mid-19th century, the museum depicts the living and working conditions of the Irish, Jewish and Italian immigrants who resided in the building's apartments.

FLEXN, a Brooklyn-born dance style that has become a worldwide phenomenon in dance culture, is explained by one of its biggest advocates, Reggie "Rocc" Gray (pictured, left), who charts the dance style's street beginnings, what it means in the dance world, and how he is saving lives through his dance organization, The D.R.E.A.M. Ring.

Crime fiction king and literary legend James Patterson is interviewed by Ernabel Demillo at BookExpo about his new publishing imprint for kids, Jimmy Patterson Books, whose goal to increase the amount of children who read for fun - preparing them for school and careers in a vital way. Patterson is donating profits from the books to a variety of worthy causes.

Tinabeth Pina sits down for a meal at New York City College of Technology/CUNY (City Tech) with chef instructors Joanne Jacus and Susan Lowry featuring foods originally created in New York City - Manhattan Clam Chowder, Waldorf Salad (r.), Delmonico's steak, and New York cheesecake.

Lisa Beth Kovetz spends a night out at a Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment where dinner is served with a side of live jazz. Proprietor Debbie McClain and bassist Eric Lemon are the hosts of Brownstone Jazz, in a home that has been in McClain's family for six generations.
