Author James Mitchum Oates makes a comeback into the literary scene with his suspense thriller book, "A Classic Tale from the Streets" (published by Xlibris). Exploring the bloody gang wars that take place in the streets of Los Angeles, it follows the story of a young man whose brush with the reputed brutal mobs takes him into a whirlwind of unfortunate circumstances.

Dan is a high school student at the worst school in all of Los Angeles. When his family is put in harm's way by a death threat from a Bloods member named Michael, Dan gets terrified. Soon, his family is killed and he has nowhere else to turn to but the Crips. They then take him in and he becomes a criminal. One night, when committing a crime, an officer gets killed and Dan is suspect. To evade prison, he reveals the real killer. Never did he expect that this revelation would unveil a shocking truth about himself.

Dan decides to start anew and finds solace in religion and God, a girlfriend and a nice school. Life is good, or so he thought. Can a person who has once lost his path find his way to redemption? Or will it all be the same bad ending for all?

Readers are invited to join Dan as he traverses every obstacle and learn the hard truths of life in this rare shot at the glaring reality of extreme urban life.
