Purple Rose Records is proud to announce the release of their author James Arena's new book, "Stars of '90s Dance Pop." Twenty-nine of the 90's premiere pop singers, songwriters, producers, DJs and industry professionals come together in the new book, published by McFarland & Co. In one on one interviews, they reveal details about their lives and careers during one of the most energized and commercially successful periods in pop music history.
Among the interviewed performers are Robin S ("Show Me Love"), Right Said Fred ("I'm Too Sexy"), Haddaway ("What Is Love"), CeCe Peniston ("Finally"), Lane McCray of La Bouche ("Be My Lover"), Martha Wash (vocalist of C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat - Everybody Dance Now"), Dose Vargas of 2 In A Room ("Wiggle It") and many more. Larry Flick, former dance music and pop singles editor of Billboard magazine, and famed New York City dj Susan Morabito provide special commentary.
"Stars of '90s Dance Pop" delves deeply into the rarely documented behind-the-scenes world of dance music, from the pressure on artists to keep churning out the hits to the effects of ever-changing musical tastes and advancements in technology. Interviews are conducted in a brisk Q&A format as these legendary artists personally explain how creativity and survival coexisted in the frantic world of 90s dance pop.
"Stars of '90s Dance Pop" is the fourth book in a dance music series by Mr. Arena. Previous books include "Stars of 80s Dance Pop," "Legends of Disco" and "First Ladies of Disco," all best sellers on Amazon's dance chart. His goal is to document the lives, careers and accomplishments of the people who made dance music an art form.
"Stars of '90s Dance Pop" is now available in the US in print and e-Book form, with the UK and Europe to follow soon.
