Author James A. Wynne continues his compelling historical fiction in "Sunrise at Seminary Ridge." This story concerns the ultra-conservative views of the Amish of Lancaster County, PA, and their juxtaposition within the Civil War period of the 19th century.
In this second installment, an eighteen-year-old Amish farm boy feels trapped between his religious heritage and his fascination with the world outside of his small Pennsylvania town. His solution is to leave home. And so begins his unforgettable adventure that will change his life forever. Through the eyes of Jacob and other remarkable characters, be it fictional or historic, readers will gain a new perspective on the most famous battle of the American Civil War. They are all portrayed with their strengths and emotional flaws, which in turn gives life to this literally work.
More than a century has passed since the battle of Gettysburg and the Civil War, and yet, Jacob discovers and uncovers through his own opinions on humanity the simplicity of the Amish way of life which seems so out of step with time to the present society as well as those of the past, is often exactly what is called for in many situations. Wynne has taken great lengths to paint some of the great officers of the Union and Confederate armies as human, including warts and all.
A compelling work of historical fiction, "Sunrise at Seminary Ridge" will take readers on an unforgettable journey through the eyes of Jacob as he moves from an innocent farm boy to a sophisticated young man.
"In many respects, it is a journey which we all take at some point in our lives, even for those of us living outside of the Amish community," Wynne shares.
