Jacob Nathaniel Shepherd Announces LET A SHEPHERD BE YOUR GUIDE in New Book

Inspired by a lifelong love of limericks and the influence of a Christian upbringing, former WWII B-17 pilot and debut author Jacob Nathaniel Shepherd brings readers his new book, Let a Shepherd Be Your Guide. All of the poems rhyme and are written in a rhythmic cadence designed to enhance readability both in private and for an audience.

This collection of mostly religious poems, structured so as to provide a daily opportunity for reading and reflection throughout the year, serves as a testament to believers and nonbelievers alike of Jesus' love in a person's life.

About the author
Jacob Nathaniel Shepherd, Jr. was born in 1923 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and has just celebrated his 90th birthday. The family's membership and participation in activities at First Lutheran Church led him to develop a deep and lasting love for Jesus. Shepherd graduated from Greensboro Senior High School at the age of fifteen.

As captain and pilot of a B-17 bomber, he flew twenty-five combat missions over Germany. He received an engineering degree from North Carolina State and retired from Blue Bell, Inc., originator of Wrangler jeans, as a corporate vice-president.

Shepherd was happily married for forty-seven years to the mother of his seven children, which ended tragically when she died from lung cancer. He remarried in 2005 to a widow whom he met in a church program. They reside in Winnabow, North Carolina.

His poetic endeavors began in 2005, when he wrote a poem as a stewardship message for his church. This first poem became a hymn and is included in his book under the title, "I Have a Friend in Heaven!"
