Oak Brook, Ill.
Author Jackie Mullins has participated in Irish Dancing for five years and loves it. Her interest in this form of dance inspired her to incorporate it into her debut publication, "Mullins School of Irish Dance" (published by Xlibris), where a dance event leads the pursuit of a mystery and even has the heroine experience a little bit of romance.
This book is about a girl named Ginny and her friends, who all dance Irish dancing. Ginny is injured and will not be able to compete in Nationals, but still goes since her mom is the dance teacher. She soon finds out that there is something suspicious going on with the "Check in Counter Lady." The girls and a very handsome young boy they meet try to solve the mystery of why so many strange things are happening around them.
Through her story, Mullins wants her readers to realize that not everything is as it seems, so they should always trust their gut. As a 12-year-old author, she also wants to encourage others her age to do their own writing with her saying that, "Kids can do whatever adults can do, whether it is solving a mystery or writing a book."
